In the race against time to save lives, medical teams must act swiftly to seize every golden window of treatment. To enhance this capability, Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital established the AI Medical Innovation and Development Center in 2020. The hospital adopted the world’s most advanced AI systems, including NVIDIA DGX A100, NGC, and the NVIDIA Clara platform. Through collaboration with partners, they developed the EBM AI platform, integrated with a mobile ward round system that consolidates all patient information into a single app.

Thanks to this collaborative effort, the AI-powered clinical decision support models—originally confined to desktop computers—have now been extended to mobile devices. This empowers medical and epidemic prevention teams to access AI-assisted diagnostics and treatment from anywhere using their mobile devices, significantly improving both the quality of treatment and patient prognosis.

Dr. Wu Bin-An, Vice President of Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital, pointed out that using innovative AI for mobile healthcare not only saves valuable time for the medical team but also helps patients better understand their conditions. Medical imaging tasks like construction and annotation are time-consuming for physicians. With mobile healthcare integration, doctors can now make annotations using any free moment on their mobile phones or tablets. These results can be accessed in clinics, wards, or even outside the hospital. AI helps interpret the images instantly, potentially identifying smaller lesions early and improving both diagnostics and care quality.

It’s also worth mentioning that Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital, in partnership with FONGCON, introduced the AI-Stack platform from Digital Infinite. This system efficiently manages priority access for AI engineers using the DGX-A100 servers, preventing resource contention and ensuring maximum utilization. Features like a user-friendly web interface, one-click NVIDIA MIG setup, GPU sharing mechanisms, and storage management enhance development efficiency and overall GPU utilization.
